Scorpio New Moon
On Thursday (20th November) at 6.46 am (GMT), we have the New Moon in transformative Scorpio. There is a lot of restructuring and transforming energy around this New Moon. Be honest with yourself about what you want and the changes you want to make in your life. Anything is possible, you just have to believe. This week’s blog will look at the energy around this New Moon and how you can work with it.
New Moons mark the start of a new lunar cycle. This is a time to set out intentions for the next 4 weeks, which will help us to achieve our goals or maintain some aspect of our lives. Generally, anything started under a New Moon should be completed by the Full Moon in the same sign. This gives us a 6-month container to work with. (The Full Moon in Scorpio will be on the 1st of May 2026.) When making New Moon Wishes, you can go as big or as small as you like. If you make a big wish, you can break it down into smaller, manageable goals. This allows you to track your progress as you move through each lunar cycle.
Not all New Moons are the same. They are flavoured by the zodiac sign that the Moon is in at the time and influenced by the other planets. A New Moon is always in the same sign as the Sun, giving us a double dose of the sign's energy to work with. This is why people work with this energy to set their goals.
Scorpio is one of the four fixed signs, which follow the cardinal signs and fix in place the things we have previously started. These are the most stubborn and determined signs, and they are known for their strength and ability to see things through. Scorpio has themes around regeneration, transformation and renewal, making it the ideal New Moon to set intentions around revealing things that are hidden, healing the deepest parts of yourself and making lasting changes in your life. Scorpio doesn’t have time for the superficial, they want to get to the root cause.
As one of the three Water element signs, Scorpio is intense, passionate, emotional, powerful and complex. The Water signs feel all of the feelings and are very protective. This can make Scorpio possessive and obsessive. This is the sign of the zodiac that follows their desires. When they decide they like something or someone, they commit fully. This New Moon is a good time to make more time for the things you are passionate about and listen to your intuition more. What tools can you use to help you connect with your intuition? What are the things that light you up? What do you need to heal to move forward?
When setting your Scorpio New Moon intentions, we can use the themes and energy of this sign to help us. Here are some questions you can ask yourself to get the most from this energy.
What are my intentions for this lunar cycle?
Where can I be less fearful?
What do I need to heal?
Where can I transform?
How can I express my deepest emotions?
How can I reconnect with my passions?
There are also some practical ways to work with this New Moon. As the sign that likes to uncover truths and get to the bottom of things, investing your time in a research project, investigating something or doing tasks that need analysis works really well. Scorpio can be secretive and overprotective, so make sure you are protecting your privacy, especially in today's social media-obsessed world. Not every second of your life needs to be shared online. If you are looking to deepen your connection to yourself and your intuition, then learning to meditate or deepening your current practice is a great way to start. You could also use divination tools to help you. Or invest in a tarot reading to see what it uncovers. Other ways to work with this intense, complex and occult-loving energy includes doing physical activities and listening to or making atmospheric music. Let’s not forget the sexy and erotic Scorpio vibe. Is it time to inject some more passion into your relationships?
There’s only Mars and Venus not getting involved in this New Moon party, so we already know it’s going to be a big one!! And with most of the planets currently in retrograde, be sure to think things through.
First up, we have a retrograde Mercury whispering secrets to the Moon. Clear thinking, clear communication and a promising new idea are all on the cards.
With Mercury in Retrograde in Scorpio, we could be more suspicious of others and the things we suspect are hidden. It may not be wise to make big or important decisions.
Then there is Jupiter, reminding us that with great risk comes great reward. This is a lucky New Moon, with things more likely to come to fruition. Dream big and take risks.
Jupiter is the lucky planet of adventure and exploration. This is where things expand, and we can put things into perspective. When Jupiter is in retrograde, we get the chance to look at past decisions, the paths we have taken, and to question our beliefs. As Jupiter is in Cancer, the sign of home and family, think about what makes you feel safe and secure. Are you letting that hold you back from taking a risk?
Saturn’s encouragement is making this a good New Moon for work situations, a new job or maybe a promotion. Where do you need more structure in your life? Remember that structure could be scheduling more time for play and creativity, it doesn’t have to be rigid and inflexible.
Of course, Saturn is the planet with the bad reputation for being very rigid, but it is also solid, secure and strategic. While Saturn is in retrograde, we are encouraged to think about the structures in our lives, where we might be taking on things that aren’t actually our responsibility and where we may lack discipline. In dreamy Pisces, this is a beautiful time for spiritual growth, for facing difficult truths and looking at your boundaries.
We then have Uranus shaking things up. It’s time to break out of your regular old routines and try something different. Start experimenting, you never know where it might lead you.
Uranus is the crazy planet of chaos and mayhem. This is where life throws you curveballs, and while it is retrograde, we want to be looking at what freedom and independence means to us. As Uranus is in Taurus, we could be re-evaluating our values, our relationship to money and what stability and comfort actually mean to us.
Finally, we have Pluto taking us to hidden places where we can uncover hidden truths. Just watch out for getting more than you bargained for.
Pluto is the planet of transformation, and is currently hanging out in Aquarius, the inventor of the zodiac who looks to the future. As the sign associated with technology, the internet and communities, we could see big changes in those areas. What does that look like in your life?
